What tarot actually is
A tarot deck is 78 cards divided into the Major Arcana (22 cards describing large life themes, The Fool, The Tower, The Star) and the Minor Arcana (56 cards across four suits describing everyday circumstances).
A reading is not a lookup table. The same card means something different depending on the position it lands in, the question asked, and the cards around it. The Tower in a position representing the past is a description; the same card representing an outcome is a warning.

Which spread to use
One card
A single card for a focused question or a daily prompt. The most useful spread for beginners, because it forces interpretation rather than pattern-matching across ten cards at once.
Three cards
Past, present, future, or situation, action, outcome. The workhorse spread. Enough structure to show a trajectory without enough cards to let you cherry-pick the reading you wanted.
Five cards
A wider spread covering the situation, what is helping, what is working against it, the guidance to act on, and the likely outcome. More surface area than a three-card spread without needing a ten-card layout.
Beyond tarot

How to ask a good question
Closed questions produce thin readings. "Will I get the job?" invites a yes or no that the cards are poorly suited to give. "What should I understand about this application?" gives the reading somewhere to go, and gives you something usable regardless of the outcome.

Do I need to buy a physical deck?

Are reversed cards used?
Yes, where the spread calls for them. A reversed card generally softens, blocks or internalises the upright meaning rather than simply inverting it.
Can tarot predict the future?
No. A reading describes a situation and the forces in it, which is useful for reflection and decision-making. Astrool's readings are for entertainment and personal reflection only.
