Numerology

Your name and birth date reduced to a handful of numbers, with the arithmetic shown, so you can see exactly where each one comes from.

How numerology works

Numerology assigns meaning to numbers derived from your birth date and the letters of your name. Every calculation reduces to a single digit, with two exceptions: 11, 22 and 33 are master numbers and are left intact.

Life path number

The most important number, derived from your full birth date. It describes the overall trajectory of your life and the lessons that recur in it.

To calculate: reduce the day, month and year separately, then add them and reduce again. For 14 March 1990: day 1+4=5, month 3, year 1+9+9+0=19, 1+9=10, 1+0=1. Then 5+3+1=9. Life path 9.

What each life path means

NumberTheme
1Independence, initiative, leadership
2Cooperation, sensitivity, partnership
3Expression, creativity, communication
4Structure, discipline, building
5Freedom, change, experience
6Responsibility, care, service
7Analysis, solitude, seeking
8Power, material mastery, ambition
9Compassion, completion, release
11Intuition, inspiration, tension
22The master builder, vision made material
33The master teacher, devotion and care

The other core numbers

Destiny number (expression number)

Derived from every letter of your full birth name. Describes what you are working toward rather than where you started. In Astrool this is labelled the expression number, the same calculation under the name more numerologists use today.

Soul urge number

From the vowels in your name. Describes what you actually want, as distinct from what you pursue.

Personality number

From the consonants. Describes how you come across before people know you.

Personal year

Your birth day and month plus the current year, reduced. Runs in a nine-year cycle, a 1 year begins something, a 9 year ends it.

Angel numbers

Repeating sequences, such as 111, 444 or 1212, treated as prompts for attention rather than messages with fixed meanings. Astrool includes an angel number reference alongside the core calculations.

Common questions

Which name should I use?

The full name on your birth certificate is used for the destiny, soul urge and personality numbers, since numerology treats it as the name you were given rather than the one you chose.

What if I get 11, 22 or 33?

These are master numbers and are not reduced further. They carry the traits of their reduced form (11 relates to 2, 22 to 4) intensified and harder to handle.

Is numerology related to astrology?

They are separate systems. Astrool calculates both and keeps them distinct rather than blending them into one score.
